Looking at the language behind literacy
Reading and spelling don’t exist in isolation. Juliana considers the language skills that support literacy — including vocabulary, comprehension, sentence structure and the organisation of ideas — to better understand where support may be needed.

Adolescents and adults are also welcome at Blue Shield Speech Pathology.
Support may include fluency and stuttering, speech clarity, language, communication confidence and functional communication for everyday life, study, work and community participation.
Assessment and therapy are individualised around the person’s priorities and goals.
Hi, I’m Juliana Kichkin
Certified Practising Speech Pathologist
I’m Juliana Kichkin, a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and founder of Blue Shield Speech Pathology.
My work has always centred on language and communication. Before speech pathology, I trained in journalism, and my clinical experience has included complex speech, language and neurological communication needs.
I bring that broad perspective to my work across the lifespan, with a particular interest in children’s literacy and language, and in supporting adolescents and adults with communication, speech and fluency goals.
Collaborative Care
Therapy is collaborative and centred around the individual’s goals. Juliana works with clients, families and, where appropriate, educators, GPs and other professionals so strategies are practical and meaningful in everyday life.

Initial Assessment

An individualised assessment to understand your needs and discuss appropriate next steps.
Individual Therapy
60 minutes · $195
Ongoing therapy tailored to individual goals and priorities.
Assessment & Progress Reports
$220 per hour
Written reports can be arranged where required and are discussed in advance.
Appointments are available in person in Kogarah and via telehealth across Australia.
Do I need a referral?
No GP referral is required to book an assessment or therapy appointment. You’re welcome to get in touch to discuss your needs and explore how I may be able to help.
NDIS Participants
I welcome self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. Assessment and therapy are tailored to each person’s individual goals and priorities, with a collaborative approach that values the involvement of participants and their families.
